About the Survey
The 2024 Survey of Local Election Officials (LEOs) is the sixth survey conducted since 2018 by the Elections & Voting Information Center (EVIC), with its researchers co-located at the Center for Public Service, Portland State University, and Reed College. We are using this survey to amplify and elevate the voices of LEOs in national, regional, and state conversations about election administration, election integrity, conduct, and reform. The Survey provides LEOs with an important, timely, and respectfully brief opportunity to weigh in on issues of concern in their profession.
The 2024 EVIC LEO Survey was fielded from mid-July to mid-October, 2024 to a sample of over 3100 randomly selected LEOs. We thank the LEOs in advance for the thoughtful responses to our questions.
The 2024 LEO Survey is supported by grants from Democracy Fund and Election Trust Initiative. We are grateful for their generous support for our work. The research team at EVIC is solely responsible for the content, administration, and use of the survey results.
The principal investigators for the 2024 LEO Survey project are EVIC Research Director Paul Manson, PhD, Research Assistant Professor with the Center for Public Service at Portland State University and EVIC Director Paul Gronke, PhD, Professor of Political Science at Reed College. Communications and outreach efforts are directed by EVIC Senior Communications Advisor Michelle M. Shafer, Managing Principal of Magenta Sage Strategies.
