EVIC Director Paul Gronke appears on Election Day edition of C-SPAN’s Washington Journal

In case you were not online at 5am Pacific on Election Day (but if you are reading this post, you are an “Election Geek” and thus, you were likely already awake and working!), Paul Gronke, PhD, Director of the Elections & Voting Information Center (EVIC) and Professor of Political Science at Reed College was live on C-SPAN for an hour discussing “all things elections” with C-SPAN Washington Journal Host Mimi Geerges.

During the first few minutes of the segment, Mimi asked about EVIC and the work of the Center. Paul spoke about EVIC’s marquee project, the EVIC Local Election Official (LEO) Survey Program, while a view of EVIC’s website (screenshot below) appeared on-camera.

EVIC has been conducting the annual LEO Survey since 2018. The 2024 survey, generously funded by Democracy Fund and the Election Trust Initiative, is finishing up its fielding period and the data are being analyzed. We will start to share survey results in early December, so please stay tuned.

In addition to being asked questions by the host, Paul also fielded questions from program viewers. Paul responded questions on topics that ranged from polling place procedures, security of voting equipment, election integrity, and ballot tabulation, to dealing with election misinformation, and everything in between.

One viewer asked about the ballot drop box fires in Oregon and Washington which Paul and EVIC’s Research Director Paul Manson have been researching extensively and have written about below.
